DAMO UPDATE

DAMO DID IT AGAIN

Damian Hall has set a new record time for the 72-mile South Wales Traverse (14hrs 13mins), just beating Dan Doherty’s previous record by 5 mins.

31 summits and 18,000ft climbed

“Full credit to Dan, who did his run solo and self-supported. I had support and had to give it everything just to beat his time by 5 minutes. It was a cracking day out in hills, with the cold morning wind replaced later by sunshine. And it was brilliant to share it with a few friends. I must admit I didn’t think the record was possible until very near the end. Together with Dan Summers, my pacer on the final section, we hammered it down the last hill. I’m definitely feeling it today! It was very different to setting the Pennine Way (268-mile) record three months ago as the pace I had to run yesterday was relentless. I found it really tough and had to dig deep. It was thanks to the small team around me that I was able to get the record.” – Damian Hall.

WHY ARE TOMAX DOING THIS?

Don’t worry – be happy! Healthy people achieve more, spend less energy and are in general – happier people!

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS?

Achieving goals is rewarding. We are doing this together, is supported by the very best in getting there – and we will hammer down our goal and at the same time – be healthier than ever

WHAT IS THE GOAL?

Combined we will cover 20,000 miles and raise £20,000,- for charity in 2020

WHY CHARITY?

Giving is living. We will raise money giving back to society taking an active role for those in need. One day we will all have that need.

HOW ARE WE TRACKING THIS?

We will all be given step counters. Thereby, we don’t all have to be ultra runners to participate – every step counts and we will track it all together.

IS THERE A SOCIAL ELEMENT?

YES! There will be a “race” calendar with 4 events in 2020 where Tomax will participate – and pay all fees. All of these events are voluntarily but we hope to see you there

ARE TOMAX SPONSORING DAMIAN?

YES. Tomax is one of the 2 major sponsors for Damian Hall in 2020. Besides publicity, Damian will do 4 speeches for us in 2020, he will do individual training plans and guides on exercise and nutrition for those who like – and he will help us reach our goals by being our inspiration and mentor.

WHY DAMIAN HALL?

The best recognise the best, it’s a perfect match!

WHAT KIT DO I NEED?

Nothing – Tomax has it all covered. We will provide shoes for those who haven’t aswell we will provide T-shirts aswell.

IS THIS VOLUNTARY?

Everything in life is a choice – however, we are doing this as a company, for the company and for the individual. We expect some kind of involvement as there’s something for everyone

AIM FOR CONSISTENCY

Consistency is a boring word, but when it comes to getting fitter and healthier it’s the key one. It’s better to walk, run (or cycle) a small amount often, than a big amount occasionally. So 3-5 miles every other day, for example, is better than no exercise all week, then 10 miles at the weekend (even though 10 miles at the weekend is definitely still better than nothing at all). Doing things ‘little but often’ makes you more likely to fit them into your lifestyle, too.

HIT THE PILLOW

Other than regular light exercise, the best thing you can do for your overall health is to sleep well. Poor sleep is linked to numerous serious ailments, whereas getting eight hours sleep on average per night gives all sorts of resetting health benefits. Hit the pillow hard! Your body and mind will thank you for it.

GO GREEN

Scientists talk of the biophilia effect: an innate desire to be in green places and the ability for nature to lift us psychologically. Numerous studies link wellbeing to regularly experiencing natural environments. Put simply, we’re happier and healthier when we visit green places more often. Exercising amongst trees rather than traffic, on trails rather than tarmac, has a double-whammy, all-round health boost.

EAT THE RAINBOW

There’s so much dietary advice around at the moment, often from unqualified sources, and that’s confusing. Put simply, above all else, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. They’re packed with numerous health boosting nutrients, tasty, varied, readily available and fun. Aim for as many colours on your plate as possible.
